The brainchild of the inimitable Andrew Pern, The Star Inn The City is an award-winning restaurant located in the heart of York, close to the iconic Lendal Bridge and right on the edge of York Museum Gardens.
Since opening our doors in 2013, our riverside brasserie has grown to become one of the best corporate dining venues in York and our highly skilled team are committed to taking care of all your corporate dining needs.

Private Business Dining Options York
The Star Inn The City boasts a choice of impeccably designed and well-proportioned private dining areas that serve as the ideal setting for a business breakfast, corporate lunch or working dinner.
Our elegant River Room, which affords guests stunning views of the River Ouse, provides a light and airy space that can accommodate up to 13 guests with non-exclusive use or from 14 to 24 guests with exclusive use.
Alternatively, our Private Dining Room serves as the perfect space for larger meetings and events. Accommodating up to 15 guests with non-exclusive use, or from 16 guests to a maximum of 36 guests with exclusive use, here corporate diners can enjoy drinks and sample award-winning cuisine in a plush and sophisticated setting.
Finally, with cosy seating and convenient bar access, corporate diners can hire the largest table in our main dining room, The Garden Room, which can accommodate up to 9 people with non-exclusive use. This option is ideal for a more informal meetings or gatherings. In our main dining area guests can relax and enjoy freshly prepared seasonal food, traditional ales, premium spirits, and an impressive selection of wines.

Our New Spring Menu- Available Now
Celebrating a cultivation of local seasonal ingredients, our menus are expertly designed by Michelin-starred Chef Patron Andrew Pern and the passionate Star Inn The City team. With bright fresh flavours gracing the spring/summer menu to warm, comforting dishes throughout the winter, we really know how to showcase the best ingredients each season has to offer.
If you’re planning to host a corporate event at our restaurant this spring, you’ll be given the opportunity to try our exceptional new spring menu that captures all the invigorating flavours associated with this time of year.
Our new spring starters include sensational Pan Roast King Scallops served with Peppered Swede, Gamekeeper’s Haggis and Puffed Ancient Grains as well as succulent Slow Cooked Escrick Pork Collar accompanied by Henderson’s Relish Onions, Smoked Wensleydale Whip and Pork ‘Scratchings’.
Our new mains are the epitome of the blossom season; enjoy a sumptuous Cheshire Saffron Risotto or opt for a delectable plate of Yorkshire Estate Shot Venison & Chestnut Mushroom ‘Ragout’, joined by Juniper Buttered Dumpling and Spiced Braised Red Cabbage.
Finally, spring menu diners are invited to choose one of our decadent desserts which include an indulgent Treacle Tart and delicious Spiced Mascarpone Cheesecake. Cheese options are also available.
