Wedding Reception Room Options
The Star Inn The City boasts two stunning private dining areas that are perfect for hosting a magical wedding reception. The first option is our charming River Room, a warm and inviting space that affords spectacular views of the River Ouse. With large windows that allow plenty of natural light to flood in, the River Room is an elegant and welcoming setting for your special day and can accommodate from 14-26 guests.
The second option is the Mezzanine Dining Room, a flexible space that exudes a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. The room is adorned with stylish check patterns, antique mirrors, and elegant lighting fixtures, creating a refined and luxurious ambiance. This room can accommodate 20 guests up to a maximum of 36 for larger wedding parties.
Wedding Reception Meal Options
The Star Inn The City is an award-winning food-led celebration destination and we pride ourselves on serving exceptional seasonal dishes that comprise the freshest and finest locally-sourced produce. Think top quality seasonal game, fresh fish straight from the Yorkshire coast and delectable, in-season vegetables and that’s just a little taste of what your guests can expect on your big day.
Ahead of your wedding, one of our friendly team members will be in touch and we will put forward two options: you can either choose to select three delicious courses for your guests to try from our A La Carte or you can opt for your wedding party to enjoy our set Group Menu. Please note that we cannot facilitate mixed choices between both menus, but we will do our absolute best to accommodate anybody with special dietary requirements.
If you opt for our fabulous Group Menu, your wedding party will be treated to an array of delectable starters. These mouthwatering appetizers could include a divine Yorkshire Wold’s Chicken Apricot & Pancetta Terrine, a harmonious blend of flavours nestled alongside a vibrant Heritage Carrot & Apricot Chutney. The plate comes alive with Sweet ‘n’ Sour Summer Vegetables and a crisp Short Stack Farm Herb Salad. For those preferring seafood, the Hot Smoked Organic Scottish Salmon & Horseradish Mousse starter presents a delicate balance of smoky and zesty notes, complemented by a refreshing Cucumber & Red Pepper Relish and peppery Baby Watercress, all served with golden Rye Toasts
The Group main course selection is equally enticing. The BBQ Glazed Monkfish Tail ‘On the Bone’ is a showstopper, its succulent flesh enhanced by a velvety Smoked Aubergine Puree. Preserved Lemon & Anchovy Dressed Tender Stem adds a citrusy punch, while crispy Salt ‘N’ Vinegar Onion Rings provide a satisfying crunch. Alternatively, the Yorkshire Wold’s Chicken ‘Schnitzel’ offers a crisp exterior giving way to juicy meat within. It’s paired with a summery Isle of Wight Tomato & Rocket Salad, tender Garlic & Herb Buttered Green Beans, and a robust Henderson’s Spiced Tomato Sauce.
For dessert, our signature Eton Mess reimagines this classic with clouds of Crushed Meringue and silky Madagascan Vanilla Chantilly. Anabelle’s Strawberries & Sorbet add a fruity freshness, while Pistachio and Lemon Balm provide nutty and herbal notes. Likewise, the Passion Fruit Curd Cheesecake is a tropical delight, its creamy filling contrasting beautifully with the crumbly ‘Hobnob’ Biscuit base. Toasted Coconut adds texture, while Whitby Rum ‘Sunshine Fruits’ bring a boozy kick, all balanced by cool Mango Yoghurt Ice Cream.
Finally, if you opt for our extremely popular A La Carte Menu you will be treated to an impressive range of nibbles, starters, mains, and desserts. Each dish highlights the freshest, finest seasonal ingredients from Yorkshire’s abundant larder. From field to fork, these creations cater to diverse tastes, ensuring a memorable dining experience for all your wedding guests.
