Countdown To York Racing Season: Plan Ahead & Join Us At The Star Inn The City
The York racing season is galloping into view and with just a few short months left before the opening meeting excitement is well and truly building across the city.
To kickstart the season, on May 17th the Dante Festival rolls into town, a thrilling flat racing meeting held annually at the beautiful York Racecourse. That event is quickly followed by May Spring Saturday. Taking place on 27th May 2023, this special single-day fixture ranks as one of York’s top meetings.
If you’re planning to don your glad rags and take part in either of these events, here’s a quick reminder to join us at The Star Inn The City where you can enjoy scrumptious seasonal dishes made with the finest Yorkshire produce, designed by Michelin-starred Chef Patron Andrew Pern.
Conveniently located in the heart of York, close to Lendal Bridge, whether you’re in need of a delicious breakfast to fuel you up for the big day or a special place to toast your winnings, we’ve got you covered.
Breakfast at The Star Inn The City
The most important meal of the day is always done the right way here at The Star Inn The City. Ahead of the York racing season we’re excited to reveal that we’ve just launched our stunning new breakfast menu. Join us for breakfast, available 9.30am-11.15am, Friday-Sunday and line your stomach for the big day ahead.
Morning diners can enjoy delicious light breakfast bites such as Almond & Vanilla Porridge with Boozy Prunes, Praline & Dark Chocolate or try a bowl of our delicious Chia Seed Bircher Muesli with Golden Raisins and Pistachio & Buttermilk.
For something a little more substantial, opt for Eggs Benedict or Royale, served with your choice of Smoked Back Bacon or Smoked Salmon, as well as a freshly toasted English Breakfast Muffin.
No Yorkshire breakfast menu would be complete without a full English; here at The Star Inn The City you can enjoy our ‘star’ take on this classic (the ‘Full Yorkshire’). Comprising Award-Winning Sausages, Smoked Back Bacon, our own Spiced Black Pudding and much more we promise this will be your first winner of the day.
To complement your morning bite you can also try one of our special Brunch Cocktails, or as we like to call them ‘Hairs of the dog’. Choose from a refreshing Bloody Mary or Bucks Fizz topped with Prosecco. If you’re saving yourself for a tipple at the races then you can opt for a Virgin Bloody Mary or enjoy a glass of freshly squeezed juice.
We also proudly serve ‘Proper’ Yorkshire Teas and freshly brewed Kisinga Coffee. Our full Drinks’ Menu can be found here.
