An Evening of Scottish Elegance: Burns Night Supper Club Recap
As our hungry patrons stepped through the doors, they were greeted by a cosy ambiance, the flickers of candlelight, and friendly Yorkshire welcome. The anticipation in the air was palpable as the evening unfolded with a carefully curated 6-course menu, each dish paying homage to classic Scottish favourites.
The journey commenced with the ‘Cock-a-Leekie’ Terrine, a delicate fusion of Wolds Chicken & Pancetta Terrine, adorned with ‘Thistly Cross’ Leeks, Prunes, and a Gingerbread Crumb. Paired thoughtfully with Frescho wine from Portugal, this appetizer set the stage for an unforgettable evening of culinary excellence.
Next on the menu was the ‘Cullen Skink,’ a velvety concoction of Milk Poached Smoked Haddock, accompanied by Roasted & Crispy Alliums, Maris Piper & Parsley ‘Whip,’ and a drizzle of Chive Oil. The dish danced harmoniously with the rich notes of Catena Chardonnay from Argentina, elevating the flavour profile.
The pièce de résistance came in the form of Venison, ‘Haggis, Neeps & Tatties.’ Hay Roasted Venison took centre stage, complemented by a ‘Neep & Tattie’ Pressing, Poached Blackberries, and a luscious Famous Grouse Jus. The bold flavours were perfectly accentuated with a matching Vistalba Cab Sav/Malbec, Cab France.
As the evening continued, our patrons were then treated to the exquisite Connage Gouda Highland, a Dairy Gouda Style Cheese paired with ‘Poacher’s Pickle’, Toasted Bannock Bread and a glass of divine 10 YO Tawny.
‘Cranachan’ Whiskey & York Bee Honey Cheesecake stole the spotlight as a sublime dessert, featuring Porridge Oat Crumble and a refreshing Raspberry Sorbet. The perfect accompaniment, Pasitto Di Notto from Italy, added a sweet crescendo to the evening.
Closing the night with ‘Slán go fóill,’ patrons were treated to Raspberry Pâté de Fruit, Whiskey Dark Chocolate, and Truffle, leaving lingering notes of indulgence.
