York Restaurant Week, taking place from 14th to 20th October, is a highlight of the autumn calendar. This popular event celebrates the city’s thriving food scene, and we’re thrilled to announce that The Star Inn The City will once again be taking part. October is also the month of Halloween, and York, famously dubbed the ‘most haunted city in Europe’, is the perfect place to get into the spooky spirit. From York Dungeon Shows to ‘Hallowscream’ at York Maze and guided ghost tours through the city’s cobbled streets, there’s no shortage of scary fun to be had. And, after a day of ghostly encounters, what better way to warm up than with a delicious meal at our award-winning riverside brasserie?
The racing season may be drawing to a close, but there’s still time to catch the excitement of York Races, with Finale Friday on 11th October and the Coral Sprint Trophy on 12th September. Join us for a pre- or post-race bite and make your day at the races extra special.
Bonfire Night, on 5th November, is another autumn highlight in York, and we’re looking forward to celebrating in style. The city is hosting a range of fantastic events, including the explosive comedy Guy Fawkes at York Theatre Royal and Scampston’s Fireworks Spectacular, set amidst the stunning 70-acre Parkland of Scampston Hall. Choose from one of three succulent meats – Roast Loin of Escrick Reared Pork with Crackling, Roast Sirloin of Salt-Aged Beef, or Rosemary Roasted Breast of Yorkshire Wolds Chicken. Each dish comes with a generous helping of Duck Fat Roasties, Buttered Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Swede & Horseradish Stump, Proper Gravy, and Yorkshire Pudding.
