The Star Inn The City Launches New Spring Menu
With springtime quickly approaching, and the end of those cold, dark winter nights now within sight, The Star Inn The City is delighted to announce the launch of our brand new spring menu.
Designed by Executive Chef Josh Brimmell and Andrew Pern, our new spring menu champions the best in seasonal and local produce and aims to capture all the wonderful flavours associated with this time of year.
Whether it’s a casual catch up over lunch, special occasion celebrations or a relaxing family meal, our new spring menu has something for everyone- and we can’t wait for you to try out our incredible new dishes.
Here’s a little taste of what to expect…
Spring All Day Menu
Spring is the most invigorating of all seasons, particularly when it comes to fresh ingredients, and we have worked in collaboration with our trusted local suppliers, ensuring the finest produce in the Yorkshire region makes it way into all our dishes.
Our new springtime starters are set to delight those looking to indulge this season. Choose from fresh Pan Roast King Scallops served with Peppered Swede, Gamekeeper’s Haggis and Puffed Ancient Grains, the perfect juxtapose of flavours and textures.
Alternatively, tuck into a divine Slow Cooked Escrick Pork Collar accompanied by Henderson’s Relish Onions, Smoked Wensleydale Whip and Pork ‘Scratchings’.
Our new mains are the epitome of springtime cooking; enjoy a delicious Cheshire Saffron Risotto or opt for a mouth-watering plate of Yorkshire Estate Shot Venison & Chestnut Mushroom ‘Ragout’, served with Juniper Buttered Dumpling and Spiced Braised Red Cabbage.
The Star Inn The City is renowned for our exceptional fish dishes that evoke tastes of the coast, and our new menu continues that trend. Tuck into a delicious Brew York Battered Codling, complemented by Crushed Garden Peas, Salt & Vinegar Scraps and Chip Shop Curry Fish Velouté.
Finally, if you look forward to a sweet treat after your main, our new decadent desserts won’t disappoint. Indulge in a slice of Spiced Mascarpone Cheesecake, Whitby Rum & Pineapple and Coconut Ice or take a spoon to our ‘Rocky Road to the City’ served with Dark Chocolate Mousse, Torched Meringue and Salted Caramel.

Our new seasonal menu is perfectly complemented by our selection of ales, carefully matched wines and speciality cocktails, lovingly crafted by our bartending team, using the finest springtime ingredients.

Try Our New Breakfast Menu
As well as unveiling our exciting new spring All Day Menu, The Star Inn The City is delighted to introduce our brand new breakfast menu.
The most important meal of the day is always done the right way here at our charming riverside brasserie. Join us for breakfast, available 9.30am-11.15am, Friday-Sunday and fill up for the day ahead.
Enjoy light breakfast bites such as Almond & Vanilla Porridge with Boozy Prunes, Praline & Dark Chocolate or try a bowl of our delicious Chia Seed Bircher Muesli with Golden Raisins and Pistachio & Buttermilk.
For something a little more substantial, opt for Eggs Benedict or Royale, served with your choice of Smoked Back Bacon or Smoked Salmon, as well as a freshly toasted English Breakfast Muffin.
If you’re familiar with our old breakfast menu fear not because our extremely popular ‘Full Yorkshire’ isn’t going anywhere. Breakfast diners can still enjoy our sensational take on the ‘Full English’ which includes award-winning sausages, our own spiced black pudding and much more.
